Seven Substances Added to 14th Report on Carcinogens

On November 3, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released the 14th Report on Carcinogens, which includes seven newly reviewed substances bringing the cumulative total to 248 listings.

The chemical trichloroethylene (TCE) was listed as "known to be a human carcinogen." OEHHA listed TCE as a carcinogen in 1988

Cobalt and cobalt compounds that release cobalt ions in vivo were listed as "reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen." OEHHA has listed three of the cobalt substances mentioned in the report, but 11 other compounds have not been listed:

The five viruses listed include human immunodeficiency virus type 1, human T-cell lymphotropic virus type 1, Epstein-Barr virus, Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus, and Merkel cell polyomavirus. You can view the full report here.
